Savannah is gearing up for the 22nd Annual Savannah Music Festival, which runs March 24 through April 9, 2011. Music infuses Savannah during this city-wide event; musicians travel from all over the world to participate in the “cross-genre” program, and fans travel from all over the world to listen. It has been hailed as one of the most important events of its kind in papers from London to Munich.
Guests of our Savannah Vacation Rentals may find themselves at one-time-only events such as the following:
- African Interplay: Ballake Sissoko and Vincent Segal / Lionel Loueke Ensemble – a unique blend of African music made with Western instruments.
- Slave Shout Songs from the Georgia Coast, by the McIntosh County Shouters.
- Giants of Texas Country: bringing together The Flatlanders and Junior Brown.
Indeed, few music festivals assemble such a diverse bill. It’s possible to hear classical pianists, blues guitarists, and folk rock bands during the Savannah Music Festival. Throw in a Zydeco Dance Party, a Bluegrass icon, and some Chamber Music, and you’re beginning to get an idea of what awaits.
The Savannah Music Festival runs for 17 days in 13 venues. Each day holds more than one option, so you’re always sure to find some music you like. Whether you are already planning to stay in one of our Savannah Vacation Rentals during the weekend, or considering traveling to Savannah during the week, you’ll be pleased you came for this great event.
