Take a look at what is planned or already on display at the Jepson Center for Summer 2015:
The Art of Diplomacy: Winston Churchill and the Pursuit of Painting
April 24th through July 26th
This landmark exhibition features paintings by Sir Winston Churchill, as well as photographs, letters, and personal belongings on loan from members of his family. The paintings depict landscapes, family vacation spots, friends’ estates, gardens, seascapes, and still life interiors. Winston Churchill painted not only as a hobby to escape work but also as a kind of life philosophy. The Art of Diplomacy explores the relationship between Churchill’s strategic decision-making and his evolving practice as an artist.
Life’s a Beach: Photographs by Martin Parr
May 15th through August 30th
Martin Parr is a key figure in the world of photography and is recognized as a brilliant satirist of contemporary life. In Life’s a Beach, Parr takes us on a color-saturated journey through a place loved by all: the seaside. Intrigued by the general absurdities and local quirks of beachgoing, Martin Parr has photographed beaches across the world for many decades, creating images that range from closeups of sunbathers to shots of rambunctious swimmers caught mid-plunge.
Come As You Are: Art of the 1990s
