Savannah is a great place to visit no matter what is going on but a Savannah 4th of July is something special. Come see how this historic Southern city celebrates America’s Independence Day!

There are so many ways to celebrate your Savannah 4th of July. Savannah is a not just a historic American city but also a patriotic one – we take Independence Day seriously – not that that means we don’t have fun. On the contrary! Below are just a few of the goings on around town that occur during a Savannah 4th of July:

Savannah Forth of July Events

River Street Fourth of July Celebration – July 3rd – 5th
Celebrate Independence Day all weekend at the River Street Fourth of July Celebration. Groove to live music on the Arbor Stage and shop from the goodies offered at the artisan booths. Festivities begin on Friday 4pm to 10pm, Saturday from 10am to 10pm, and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

Baseball and Fireworks at Grayson Stadium – July 3rd, 6pm
You can’t get any more American than hotdogs, fireworks, and baseball (okay, okay: bring Mom along and have her pack an apple pie)! Join the Savannah Sand Gnats as they face off against the Charleston Riverdogs on July 3 in Grayson Stadium on the edge of the historic district. Gates open at 6pm, the first pitch is at 7:05, and the fireworks display begins at the end of the game. Picture perfect.

Independence Day Fireworks on Tybee Island – July 3rd, 9:15pm
Kick off your Independence Day festivities a day early with Tybee Island’s Fireworks on the Beach. The annual celebration starts at 9:15pm and is visible from virtually any point on the eastern side of the island. One of Tybee Island’s busiest days, if you hope to see the show, we;d recommend making a day of it so you can get your place early while.

Annual Watermelon Crawl at Lake Mayer Park – July 4th, 8am
Start the holiday off with a fun 6 to 8 mile group run. Not a race, just a run – followed by lots of free watermelon! Come have fun!

Magnolia Park’s 20th annual Fourth of July Parade – July 4th, 11am
Magnolia Park’s Fourth of July Parade is less than 10 minutes from downtown and includes everything from gaily decorated bikes and golf carts to wacky wheelbarrows. The parade begins on on the corner of Woodland Drive and Forsyth Street and ends at Magnolia Park, with festivities, fun, and barbecue.

Wormsloe and Fort Pulaski – July 4th, 11am to 4pm
Colonial re-enactments, musket drills, cannon firings, choirs, and more are on tap throughout the day at sites such as Wormsloe Historic Site and Fort Pulaski. For more details on just what will be happening where, be sure to visit the website for each location, linked above.

First Friday Art March Independence Day Festival – July 4th, 6pm to 11pm
Art Rise fills the day with live performances on the One West Victory Stage; local art, live painting, video art, projection mapping, and more at the Indie Arts Market at 2427 De Soto Ave; a cookout at Southbound Brewery; live music and a free sparklers with any cocktail from 7pm to 11 pm.

First Friday Oyster Roast at the Westin – July 4th, 7pm to 9:45pm
Buckets of oysters, turkey legs, live music, dancing and free ferry rides are on tap during the Savannah 4th of July, First Friday Oyster Roast. Wow!

Savannah Fourth of July Fireworks Cruise – July 4th, 8pm to 10:30pm
Savannah Riverboat Cruises’ special 4th of July Fireworks Cruise is 90 minutes of awesome with a DJ spinning dance tunes with drinks and snacks available as you watch the spectacular waterfront fireworks display from one of the two climate-controlled decks for the outdoor deck.

River Street Fourth of July Fireworks – July 4th – 9pm
No Savannah 4th of July would be complete without fireworks to seal the deal and the fireworks display shot out over the Savannah River at 9pm on Friday do the job quite nicely, if we do say so ourselves. Grab your chair and get there early to watch the sky come to life with multi-hued blossoms of light accompanied by live music from the Arbor Stage.
