Mid Week Weddings for Couples on a Budget

These days it feels like most of us are on a pretty tight budget, even for big events like your wedding.

One way to cut some of the price without cutting all the corners off your cake is to have a mid week wedding. Here at Savannah Villas, we offer discounted rates if you book your wedding, reception or party here Sunday through Thursday.

Perhaps budget is not your main motivation for a mid week wedding. Maybe you have special date in mind, like the anniversary of your first meeting, or your grandparent’s anniversary. Military deployments could also be a reason for a mid-week wedding.

Perhaps you are considering a destination wedding. Turn a midweek wedding into luxurious three- or four-day event, with

brunch, outings and activities. Save money on the main event for a fun vacation with the people you love the most!

Of course, some couples may have different priorities. Older couples, who are perhaps on their second marriage, have already done the big dress, big reception, Saturday night wedding. Saving money on a wedding leaves funds available for a great honeymoon!

Other couples are using the midweek wedding as a way to cull large guest lists. A weekday wedding can offer an alternative that is cost efficient and polite. You might feel obligated to invite a large amount of extended family, but, with a midweek wedding, you are assured that some folks will return their invitation saying, “sorry, we can’t make it.”

Whether you choose a mid week wedding or a traditional weekend timing, we would love to be your Savannah GA wedding venue! We have lodging on-site for just the couple or up to 26 people. Our vacation rentals are located in the Historic District of Savannah, which means you are steps away from shops, restaurants and more. Give us a call at (912) 232-6633 to inquire about our discounted rates for weddings and other events scheduled for Sunday through Thursday.

Ashley said the luxurious bedrooms and setting at 109 West Liberty Street made the whole weekend a wonderful experience. ” We were able to spend time with family and friends, prepare for the big day at our own pace, and enjoy a relaxing, intimate Southern wedding weekend.”

“The house was beautiful, and the catering and floral [decorations] were amazing, thanks to the owner’s recommendations.”

“There was also plenty of space in the courtyard to dance the night away, and everyone had a blast.  We couldn’t have asked for a more prefect venue for our wedding and look forward to returning to 109 West to celebrate future anniversaries.”

A Savannah GA Wedding Weekend to Remember

109 West House Savannah GA Wedding

Savannah Villas 109 West House was honored to be a part of a beautiful Savannah GA wedding this past May. The wedding was a full weekend event, May 3-6, 2012. We are very thankful to Juliet Castovinci and Jason Dejelo for sharing the experiences and recommendations from their romantic Savannah wedding.*

Juliet and Jason fell in love with Savannah on their first trip together and promised themselves they’d visit again. Two and a half years later, they did. It was on that return trip that Jason proposed and Juliet happily accepted. With such beautiful memories of their romantic trips here, it was a natural choice to have a destination wedding in Savannah.

And so the planning began. Alysse at Morgan Gallo Events had done a great job of helping Jason with his proposal. It made perfect sense to work with Alysse again as their Savannah wedding event planner. With her guidance, they selected vendors and venues for their wedding, including Savannah Villas at 109 West. Alysse helped them through the whole process to make sure everything ran smoothly. As a result, the couple didn’t have to deal with any set up, clean up or other miscellaneous details on their wedding day.

For the entertainment of their guests, they organized a tour with Oglethorpe Trolley Tours. Conveniently, Oglethorpe was also able to provide guest transportation to the ceremony and reception.

On Friday night, the rehearsal dinner was held at Soho South, an open, light and artsy café conveniently located caddy corner from 109 West House.

The Saturday ceremony took place at the bandshell at Forsyth Park where Jason had proposed. Reverend Stephen Williams did a wonderful job officiating the wedding. The sweet elegance of the occasion was perfectly accompanied by wedding music performed by an outstanding harp and violin duo from the New Arts Ensemble.

Afterwards, there was excellent food and service at both the cocktail hour in Reynolds Square and the reception in the ballroom at The Olde Pink House. The Equinox Jazz Orchestra played Jazz and Big Band hits for the evening’s music. This group of professional musicians was not your typical wedding band. They were amazing!

Juliet and Jason decided to go non-traditional with some of the details of the reception. Garden on the Square put together beautiful, unique arrangements that were a mix of fruit and flowers. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for Olde Pink House’s dessert table with pies, ice cream and mini praline bowls. Back in The Day Bakery provided the cookies, brownies, cupcakes and a banana pudding so delicious that Juliet still dreams of it.

Savannah and Tybee Island wedding photographer, Shannon Christopher, did a beautiful job of documenting the day. Creative and fun to work with, he made people feel at ease, took great photos and did a great job of staying on schedule.

As for 109 West House, Juliet and Jason were very happy with their decision to book the mansion for their Savannah wedding weekend. The bridal party stayed there and it was absolutely perfect. Each bedroom had its own bathroom, so everyone had their privacy if they wanted. The thoughtfully appointed luxurious rooms had all the amenities guests needed. Staying in Savannah Villas 109 West made the wedding weekend even more special because everyone could spend time together at the house. Evening gatherings on the patio were enjoyed by all.

On Sunday, they had a brunch for about 40 guests at 109 West. The historic elegance of the inn and the wonderful catering by Thrive made the brunch a perfect closing to a memorable Savannah wedding.

“Helen and Robbie were extremely easy to deal with. It was a pleasure. They run a first-rate business and you can tell they are wonderful people that really want to provide their guests with a positive experience.”

Summer Weddings in Savannah

Summer weddings in Savannah… so enchanting.

Savannah Vacation Homes and Destination Weddings

The courtyard of our Savannah Vacation Rental perfect for summer receptions.

Savannah draws brides and grooms from all over the country. It is a magnificent city for a Destination Wedding, thanks to it’s stately architecture and lovingly maintained historic squares. This is true any time of year, winter through summer.

Our Savannah Vacation Home at 109 West is an ideal choice for Destination Weddings that include family and close friends. The grand, historic home comfortably sleeps 26 people in ten bedrooms, two sleeper sofas, and one trundle bed. The property has large common areas and three separate lodging units–the Main House, the Garden Suite, and the Carriage House. In addition, the Main House features a Pent House that is very private, (it is accessed through the Main House). As a result, this Savannah Vacation Home provides an ample amount of both privacy and togetherness.

Many marriage ceremonies have been held at 109 West House, and even more rehearsal dinners and wedding receptions. Local caterers know the kitchens well (we will happily recommend caterers if you like). The property is elegantly and comfortably furnished. You may not want to leave.

If you’re thinking of getting married this summer, consider having a Destination Wedding in Savannah. Invite the closest members of your families and your dearest friends. Make it a special event for you all.

Midweek Weddings Rock

Weddings traditionally take place on weekends. This is understandable, given that the majority of people work Monday through Friday, and it’s easier for guests to attend if they don’t have to miss any work. Indeed, the bride and groom themselves can work before a weekend wedding.

Yet there are good reasons to break out of the traditional weekend wedding mold, especially if you’re having a Destination Wedding.

It may be easier to book musicians and caterers for your midweek Savannah wedding.

1. Midweek travel is often more affordable. Discounts at our luxury Savannah Guest Homes are available Sunday through Thursday. Lodging discounts may greatly reduce the overall cost of a Savannah Destination Wedding.

2. Don’t even try to work. In truth, no one close to the bride and groom gets much work done the week prior to the nuptials; everyone is too caught up with last minute details and pre-wedding socializing. There’s the bachelor party, the bachelorette party, and so forth. There are last minute dress-fittings, and appointments for hair and nails. There’s maybe even some drama. It’s all part of the big day.

3. Have a weekend for last minute details. If you get married in the middle of the week, there is plenty of time to take care of last minute details (see #2) the weekend before your nuptials.

Giving up a few days of work may seem a lot to ask of friends and family, and it is; but it may actually be for the best. Most Destination Weddings tend to be small, with the bride and groom and only their very closest friends and family in attendance. These are the people in your life who will want to take a few days off work to stand by your side as you say “I do”.

Make your relationship special from the outset. Have a Destination Wedding at one of our luxury Savannah Vacation Homes during the week.

Please call (912) 232-6633 to inquire about discounted rates for weddings scheduled for Sunday through Thursday.
