Savannah is well known for the school of art and design. The city is home, in fact, to many talented artists as well as institutions displaying meaningful, unique and beautiful works of art. While visiting Savannah, we would encourage you to take in some culture. Here are some art exhibitions in the city taking place this winter.
Seeing Savannah: Lyn Bonham’s View of Citizen Advocacy
Running until Dec 16, 2012 at the Jepson Center for the Arts.
Photographer Lyn Bonham created fine art portraits, family relationships and wedding images for the past 25 years in Savannah. Since 2000, she has captured images of people involved in Savannah-Chatham Citizen Advocacy. This exhibit will feature a number of her striking black-and-white images of citizen advocacy relationships.

The Savannah College of Art and Design is located in the heart of Savannah’s Historic District. Its presence adds a creative and innovative spirit to the community in a variety of ways. There are interesting film series, diverse exhibitions at a number of galleries, seminars, and festivals. Our Savannah GA Vacation Rentals are close to the SCAD campus and galleries.

- MANOLO BLAHNIK…THE SHOE. You may not recognize the name, but Manolo Blahnik is one ofthe world’s most influential designers of footwear. See rare prototype sketches and more than 70 pairs of shoes. Runs through July 29 at the Gutstein Gallery.
- SCAD Cinema Circle. See an eclectic mix of great old films on the big screen. Remaining films for the 2010-2011 series at the Trustees Theater include: The Misfits (6.17), Guys & Dolls (7.2), The Manchurian Candidate (7.16), and Shane (7.30). Visit the SCAD box office for tickets.
- Annual Juried Printmaking Exhibition: Alexander Ink. Outstanding prints from SCAD students in Atlanta and Savannah. Runs through July 15 at the Alexander Hall Gallery.
The SCAD Museum of Art is closed for renovations through October 15. Plan to return to one of our Savannah GA Vacation Rentals in the fall for the grand re-opening.
